ACM UPDATE
February 7, 2006 -
The ACM, in collaboration with UNESCO, is hosting a two-day workshop on
covering Education issues in St Lucia on February 14-15, 2006.
Journalists have
been drawn from the OECS and Barbados media. Participants will be
exposed to the latest developments on the UN’s Education for All
initiative and will have the opportunity to interact with senior
education officials from the UN system and CARICOM.
ACM President, Dale Enoch; Vice President, Peter Richards; Executive
Member, media trainer Canute James and senior St Lucian journalist and
media trainer Jerry George will be among the resource persons at the
workshop.
The event is the
first in a number of training initiatives to be convened by the ACM this
year. Our online course on Newspaper Feature Writing commences in March
and, later that month, we are planning a special symposium on coverage
of HIV/AIDS.
The ACM executive is
also in discussion with several other developmental partners to host
training workshops and seminars on a wide range of other issues.
ACM General
Secretary, Wesley Gibbings, will attend the February 9-13 Caribbean
Media Exchange in Puerto Rico where he will speak on “A New Vision for
Caribbean Programming”.
This week, Enoch is
in Suriname where is attending 15th anniversary celebrations hosted by
the Association of Surinamese Journalists.
